WMRT Race Program 2024/2025

U8 Race Program *NEW*
(Birth Year 2017-2018)
The U8 race group is a fun way to explore the entire mountain with friends while freeskiing and learning proper technique (US Ski & Snowboard Training Phases 1-2). Minimal intro to gate training (drill sets later in the season). Young athletes must be able to navigate the mountain and load the lift with an adult on the chair to pull down the bar. It is not a “learn to ski” program
Duration: Saturday Morning/8 Sessions, 2 per month (8:30am-11:30am)
December: 14 & 21
January: 4 & 11
February: 1 & 8
March: 8 & 15
Group Size: Min.6 - Max.12
Equipment Recommended: A slalom ski or combi ski (ski length between chest and low forehead), ski boots with buckles, helmet, ski poles, goggles and warm clothing.
Registration Fee: $450
Additional Fees Required: Wachusett pass or ticket (NOT included) and U.S. Ski & Snowboard Alpine General Non-Compeditor ($40)
Parent/Caregiver: Must remain on site for the duration of training session (lodge or out skiing). We will be looking for 1-2 parent volunteers per session to ski with the group and assist with chairlift safety.
U10 Race Program
(Birth Year 2015-2016)
The U10 race group is open to all race hopefuls looking for an introduction to ski racing. Focus is on technique (US Ski & Snowboard Training Phases 1-3) as we explore the entire mountain top to bottom riding all lifts. Minimal gate training will be introduced in January (SL stubbie, GS, Nastar). Athletes must be able to ski the entire mountain and ride the chairlift independently.
Duration: Saturdays & Sundays 8:00am-12:00pm/First weekend in December to Mid-March
Race Schedule: Typically 3 race days (2 fun events at Wachusett, 1-2 travel races)
Race Equipment Required: A Jr SL race ski or combi ski, ski boots (60/65 flex), helmet with hard ear covering, ski poles, goggles and warm clothing.
Registration Fee: $1250
Additional Fees Required: Wachusett Jr Gold ski pass ($599+), U.S. Ski & Snowboard “ Competitor U12 & Under ” ($105) andTSASRA Memberships ($30)
Family Work Fee: A “Work Day” fee is no longer required however our success relies on parent participation, help will be appreciated!
U12 Race Program
(Birth Year 2013-2014)
The U12 race group is open to all young athletes looking for a full integration into competitive ski racing. Focus is on technique (US Ski & Snowboard Training Phases 1-4) as we continue to free ski the entire mountain top to bottom while layering in gate training. Gate training will include stubbie SL, full pole SL, GS and Nastar.
Duration: Saturdays & Sundays 8:00am-12:00pm/First weekend in December to Mid-March
Race Schedule: Approx. 6 tri-state series race days on weekends Jan-March. No training at Wachusett on tri-state series race days. Race days involve travel to other mountains in MA/CT (approx. $60-70 each).
Race Equipment Required: A Jr SL race ski and a Jr GS race ski, ski boots (60-70 flex), helmet with hard ear covering, race suit, shin guards, chin guard, pole guards, ski poles, goggles and warm clothing.
Registration Fee: $1250
Additional Fees Required: Wachusett Jr Gold ski pass ($599+), U.S. Ski & Snowboard “Competitor U12 & Under” ($105) and TSASRA Memberships ($30), NO required Nastar Membership this year
Family Work Fee: A “Work Day” fee is no longer required however our success relies on parent participation, help will be appreciated!
U14 Race Program
(Birth Year 2011-2012)
The U14 race group is open to all athletes looking to grow and expand their budding race development. Focus is on technique (US Ski & Snowboard Training Phases 1-5) and racing tactics as our free skiing and gate training work together. Gate training will include both SL and GS.
Duration: Saturdays & Sundays 8:00am-12:00pm/First weekend in December to Mid-March
Race Schedule: Approx. 7 tri-state series race days on weekends Jan-March (+ post season champs & optional fun races late season) Race days involve travel to other mountains in MA/CT (approx. $60-$70 each). Participation in U14 tri-state events expected/No training at Wachusett on these days.
Race Equipment Required: A Jr SL race ski and a Jr GS race ski, ski boots (70/80 flex), FIS approved helmet, race suit, shin guards, chin guard, pole guards
Registration Fee: $1250
Additional Fees Required: Wachusett Gold ski pass ($819+), U.S. Ski & Snowboard “Competitor U14” ($130) and TSASRA Memberships ($30)
Family Work Fee: A “Work Day” fee is no longer required however our success relies on parent participation, help will be appreciated!
U16 Race Program
(Birth Year 2009-2010)
The U16 race group is open to racers with experience looking to expand and grow their existing race technique. Focus is on technique (US Ski & Snowboard Training Phases 1-6) and racing tactics with free skiing drills and gate training working together. Gate training will include both SL and GS.
Duration: Saturdays & Sundays 8:00am-12:00pm/First weekend in December to Mid-March

U18/21 Race Program
(Birth Year 2006-2008)
The U18/21 race group is open to racers with experience looking to expand and perfect their existing race technique. Focus is on technique (US Ski & Snowboard Training Phases 1-6) and racing tactics with free skiing drills and gate training working together. Gate training will include both SL and GS.
Duration: Saturdays & Sundays 8:00am-12:00pm/First weekend in December to Mid-March

Weeknight Training (U12-U21) WMRT Athletes ONLY
Night training is offered for athletes ages U12 and up. Training consists of full-pole SL sets on Piece of Cake (POC) trail off Vickery Lift with coach feedback. This training is independent meaning there are no organized groups, athletes are expected to report to the gate box to help coaches set or go directly to POC for training.
Duration: Mondays & Wednesdays
Start: January 6 - March 5, 2025
Time: 6:00-8:00
Registration Fee: $275 (flexible attendance, no single night option)
